House of Lords procedure
The House of Lords is the second House and provides revision, specialist scrutiny and constitutional caution.
Legislation
The Lords examines and revises Bills, considers amendments, scrutinises delegated legislation and sends legislative changes between the Houses according to parliamentary procedure.
Scrutiny and debate
Members scrutinise Government through questions, statements, debates, committees and examination of public policy and legislation.
Confidence
The Lords is not the confidence chamber. Government formation and confidence are determined through the House of Commons within the constitutional settlement.
