How a Bill becomes law

The ordinary legislative process of the United Hampshire Parliament.

1. Introduction and First ReadingThe Bill is formally introduced in its originating House.
2. Second ReadingThe House debates the Bill’s general principles.
3. Committee stageThe Bill receives detailed examination and amendments may be considered.
4. Report stageThe House considers the Bill as amended and further amendments may be considered.
5. Third ReadingThe House considers whether the Bill should pass.
6. Other HouseThe Bill passes through the corresponding stages in the other House and the Houses resolve amendments.
7. AssentAfter parliamentary approval, the constitutional Assent process completes enactment.
