House standards

The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards supports the House of Commons standards system in accordance with the authority of the House and the applicable procedures. The standards system is separate from Government discipline, criminal proceedings and judicial proceedings.

Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority

The Parliamentary Standards Act 2026 establishes the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, the Compliance Officer for IPSA and the Speaker’s Committee for IPSA. The Act provides the statutory framework for MPs’ salaries and allowances, claims administration, investigations, accounts and oversight.
